To be considered for this opportunity, please apply at To search and apply for other internships, experiential learning opportunities, academic fellowships and scholarships, please visit Molecular-Based Testing (BS or MS) The U.S. Army Public Health Center located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA is seeking a postgraduate research to assist molecular-based testing on environmental organisms. APHC is seeking candidates that have completed either a BS or MS in but not limited to Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences or Public Health. U.S. Citizenship is REQUIRED. The appointment is scheduled for twelve months, but can be renewed up to four additional years. This appointment includes, but is not limited to, the following: Assists with molecular-based testing on environmental organisms such as mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, and rodents using conventional and real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and gel electrophoresis. Aids in the development, optimization, and validation of vector-borne disease assays using molecular-based methodologies. Performs data analysis on test results from various molecular instruments and reports results to laboratory manager for review. Prepares laboratory reagents for testing protocols and aids in procurement of supplies necessary for laboratory functions and operations. Assists with maintaining the laboratory accreditation by adhering to quality control and quality assurance standards for laboratory functions and operations. Promotes and strictly adheres to laboratory safety and health requirements necessary for a Biosafety Level-2 Laboratory (BSL-2). Will be required to be fit-tested to wear an N-95 respirator.
