APHC is seeking candidates to assist with Heavy Metal Exposure, Evaluation and Control at Army Facilities. The ideal candidates would have completed a B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, Toxicology, Public Health, or Environmental Health; or M.S. in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Public Health, or Toxicology. To qualify for ORISE, candidates must be current students or have completed their degrees within the past five years. U.S. Citizenship is required. Recent changes to occupational exposure limits (OEL) requires re-evaluation of workplaces to assess new, lower limits. If limits are exceeded, then control measures must be implemented. The ORISE participant will assist with: sampling protocols for heavy metal exposures with newly reduced OEL; evaluating and recommending control measures, and with worker training guidance for Army public health programs. The ORISE participant will enhance their technical and organizational skills by participating in a multi-disciplinary team (chemists, industrial hygienists, risk communication experts, mechanical engineers) with contributions and technical critique.
